At first glance, it honestly doesn’t look like something that belongs in nature at all. The shape is unusual, almost unsettling — long, slightly curved, with dozens of thin little extensions branching out in every direction. If you didn’t know better, you might think it was some kind of strange creature, maybe a giant centipede or something that had
just crawled out from underground.
That was exactly my first thought.
There’s something about the way it’s structured that tricks your brain. Those smaller “branches” resemble legs, or feelers, or even veins. It almost looks like it could move at any second. And when something appears unfamiliar like that — especially when it’s covered in dirt or looks
freshly unearthed — our imagination tends to run wild.
