Instructions
Step 1: Prep and Brown
Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a skillet, cook the ground beef for 6–8 minutes until no longer pink. Drain excess grease, then stir in ¼ cup of pizza sauce. Let cool slightly.
Tip: Don’t skip the cooling step. Hot beef placed on raw dough can melt the fats and make the dough soggy and difficult to roll.
Step 2: Roll Out the Dough
Unroll the pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently stretch it into a 12×8-inch rectangle.
Step 3: Add the Fillings
Spread the remaining ½ cup of sauce over the dough, leaving a ½-inch border. Sprinkle evenly with mozzarella, then add the beef mixture.
Step 4: Roll and Slice
Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seam to seal and place seam-side down. Slice into 8 equal pieces. If they lose shape, gently reshape them.
Step 5: Bake
Arrange the rolls cut-side up on the baking sheet. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and bake for 15–18 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
Step 6: Rest and Serve
Let the rolls rest for 5 minutes so the cheese sets. Serve warm with extra sauce for dipping.
